‘Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures’ is the theme for World Pharmacists Day 2026, to be marked globally on 25 September 2026, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) announced recently.
The 2026 theme underscores pharmacists’ critical contribution to prevention, access to care, health system resilience and sustainability. As global health challenges intensify, FIP said it is calling on governments, policy-makers, regulators, health insurers and the public to empower pharmacists through supportive policies, education and full system integration.
“Empowering pharmacists means equipping them with the competencies, recognition and working environments necessary to meet evolving health needs,” said FIP president Mr Paul Sinclair. “Pharmacists are uniquely positioned at the intersection of medicines supply, scientific innovations and patient care delivery. When they are enabled to practise to the full extent of their expertise, health systems are more accessible, more responsive and more sustainable.”
With demographic shifts, the growing burden of noncommunicable diseases and digital transformation reshaping healthcare delivery, pharmacists are increasingly central to prevention strategies, primary care services and the safe and effective use of medicines. FIP emphasises that empowering the profession is not optional, but essential to building stronger and more future-ready health systems.
The first set of campaign assets is now available, including the official slogan design in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish, as well as campaign banners. Additional materials, including supporter graphics and social media cards, will be released later in the year to support national celebrations and advocacy activities.
World Pharmacy Week (19 to 25 September) will complement World Pharmacists Day by celebrating the diversity of the pharmacy workforce, including pharmaceutical scientists, pharmacy technicians and the interdisciplinary collaborations that strengthen health systems worldwide.
