St John of God University Hospital, Stillorgan, Co Dublin, will host its 2026 Public Lecture Series across three Monday evenings this April 13th, 20th and 27th April from 7.30pm to 9pm.
The free series will bring together leading mental health professionals to explore timely issues shaping mental health care today. Open to healthcare professionals and members of the public, the three-part programme will examine a series of contemporary mental health topics, including human rights in care, practical approaches to managing mood and anxiety, and the concept of mental health as a continuum.
On 13th April, Shirley Gleeson, Head of Social Work Department, will examine how dignity, autonomy and equality underpin recovery- focused care for those experiencing mental health difficulties. On 20th April, Agustin Menendez, Senior Clinical Psychologist, will offer evidence-based strategies for managing common mood and anxiety difficulties, introducing key principles of Acceptance and Commitment
Therapy (ACT). The series concludes on 27th April with Jacqui Mulligan, Project Co-ordinator with Mental Health First Aid Ireland, who will present the mental health continuum as a practical framework for understanding wellbeing, exploring how mental health fluctuates and how more informed conversations can be fostered in everyday and workplace settings.
