The Irish Institute of Pharmacy has issued an invitation to its next webinar; ‘Breastfeeding
Support: The Role of the Pharmacist’, which will take place on Wednesday, 12 February at 8pm.
In this webinar, Dr Deirdre D’Arcy and Dr Aoife Fleming will discuss the role of the pharmacist in
providing breastfeeding support in pharmacy practice. The webinar will cover the facilitators and
barriers to providing support in practice, and present information on supportive resources for
pharmacists and healthcare professionals, highlighting the important role of all members of the
healthcare team and communication skills.
Ongoing pharmacy-relevant research in the area of supporting breastfeeding in Ireland will be
discussed, said the IIOP.
This is the second of two webinars with a focus on breastfeeding. In December 2024, Dr Liz
O’Sullivan, Lecturer in Nutrition, Programme Chair, BSc Public Health Nutrition,
Technological University Dublin, presented the National Breastfeeding Policy, with insights
into breastfeeding practices, policies and national services related to breastfeeding.
The IIOP said it is delighted to host these webinars in support of further raising awareness
and highlighting resources in relation to breastfeeding for pharmacists.
Registration is open until 5pm on 12 February. To register for this webinar, please click
