This July, McCabes Pharmacy began offering a new fast, confidential and efficient way to get blood tests through a new collaboration with Bloodworks, an independent, and accredited Irish private blood testing centre.
This innovative service offers patients across Ireland access to 16 blood tests, including comprehensive health packages completed in the privacy of the McCabes Pharmacy consultation room, with no doctor referral required.
All tests are performed by fully qualified phlebotomists, taking up to 15 minutes, with results delivered directly to the patient’s email within 72 hours, along with personalised next steps that may include lifestyle advice, supplements, or a referral to a GP or consultant where appropriate.
This new blood testing service is a simple but effective way to take proactive control of your health, helping detect potential issues early and enabling informed, confident decision-making and is a quick and convenient alternative to GP surgeries and outpatient clinics. Patients are encouraged to check with their private health insurer, as many providers cover a portion of the blood testing cost.
Available tests include
- Premium Gold Blood Test (€450). The ultimate full-body screening. This test covers key health indicators such as heart disease and diabetes, and includes *cancer marker analysis, for breast, prostate, colon, lung, pancreatic, and ovarian cancers.
*Test results are not presented as definitive diagnoses but as indicators that may require further clinical consultation. - Female & Male Hormone Panels (€180). Designed to help identify the root causes of symptoms like fatigue, depression, hair loss, and irregular periods, these panels provide a detailed look at hormone health.
- Additional Individual Tests ranging from €40 to €70 depending on complexity of the test: 16 different tests available to check general health, monitor a specific condition, or indicate reasons for ongoing symptoms. Options include checks for vitamin D, iron, TSH (thyroid), and folic acid.
